The reason that country music super stars have been using Alex Houston and Elmer as an opening act for quite some time now is because of the quality of comedy and the great entertainment that Alex produces.  With his sidekick Elmer, whom some folks have the audacity to call a "dummy", Alex gives the impression that there is actually a comedy team on stage.  Invariably you'll find yourself forgetting that Alex is talking for both, you'll accept Elmer, and anxiously await his next punchline.

Their career got its first big boost when they were signed as regulars on CBS-TV's "Jimmy Dean Show".  After a couple of years there, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and worked with nearly all the greats in country music, including Charlie Pride and Ronnie Milsap.  For example, as proven crowd pleasers, Alex and Elmer were called to open some years ago in Reno, at Bally's, on a show consisting of Conway Twitty, George Jones and Merle Haggard.

Alex Houston and Elmer have been entertaining people for more than three decades now; at fairs, on TV, in auditoriums, clubs, casino showrooms and on luxury cruise ships.  Nevertheless, as the country music picture changed, so did their act.  Routines have been constantly updated to keep pace with the times, and in the past several years Alex and Elmer have opened for Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, George Jones (Most recently at Bally's Grand in Atlantic City), Barbara Mandrell and numerous other country greats.

The winning personality given to Elmer has brought laughter to millions with frequent comments such as; "You don't know how much I needed that", "You just made my day", and "I laughed so hard I could hardly get a breath".
