Nick Nicholson, 55, our bass player and announcer, passed away Thursday, February 18th, 2010 at his home after an extended illness.

Nick was a native of Tampa but had lived in Palatka since 1969.  He was a dedicated musician and had played for several bands including QUICKDRAW and, of course, the Orange Blossom Opry Band, entertaining us with his playing, singing and joke telling for the last ten years.  In addition, he did the Marlboro Tour with Ronnie Milsap, Ricky Skaggs and Merle Haggard, and has opened for such acts as The Judds, Exile, Charlie Pride and Vince Gill.  He was of the Baptist faith and loved his family very much and enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

He is survived by his fiancee, Carolyn Mullins of Clintonwood, Virginia; son, Trey Nicholson of Palatka; his mother, Bobbie Nicholson of Palatka; father and stepmother, Jimmie and Carolyn Nicholson Sr. of Satsuma; brother, Kenny Nicholson of Palatka; nieces, Heather Nicholson of Neptune Beach and Holly Nicholson of Palatka; and many friends and loved ones.

Nick is buried in the Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka.  He will be missed !!
